National Spelling Bee

I'm just now tuned into the middle of the National Spelling Bee on ABC that's on right now. This mixed Asian girl had to spell "confiserie" (oooh there are squiggly lines under that word as I typed it). It's a French word! Is that even fair? These words are crazy, all these contestants should be winners. But anyway, they pronounced "confiserie" as "COL-FIZ-AH-REE" and I felt so bad for that girl. I knew the pronunciation threw her off, and of course, she spelt it with an "L" in place of the "n". When they said "sorry", she made this face like "that's not how you spell "colfiserie?" and they pronounced it again, slightly producing the "n" sound and she felt so bad.
